Thanksgiving season is a perfect time for
Krysia Gallien, artist of the month at Beaconsfield library to exhibit her show. In fact she calls it Acts of Grace /Action de Grace , a play on the
French term for Thanksgiving.
My work embodies the feeling of abundance and celebration. It seems the perfect offering in the season of harvest. I use rich colors which excite and uplift the spirit and I usually like to create large paintings that impact their environment.
The idea of grace appeals to me, implying both the gratitude for inspiration received and the search to express beauty in art. Every painting is an act of
grace meant to pass on that inspiration to the viewer.
My vision is that the exhibit is a kind of Thanksgiving event that is shared by all that attend. The
sharing is an essential part.
Krysia Gallien has exhibited widely in and around Montreal and the West Island since
she began painting several years ago. I like the opportunity to show my work in
a solo show. It gives the artist an opportunity to make a powerful and personal
statement. In this show I am presenting a bolder vision in paintings created
within the past year.
I often paint bouquets and flowers. When words are not enough , emotion can be
conveyed in the pure vibration of color. I like color to tell the story and set
the tone. Staying at the edge of abstraction I prefer not to paint the object
but the experience of encountering the object.
By using nature as a focus , I want my work to appeal to the most essential need
we have to reconnect through art to our real selves.
